I was hoping this would come back. I'll have both old and new stuff up as soon as I can.
EDIT: I had this same question last time: I read everything on their templates page, but I can't find anything regarding design bg or colors. Should we be saving the designs with transparent bg, or the desired product color, and how do we know that the actual product's color will be what we desire?

A PNG with transparency would be preferable for the format; that will work well on all of their designs.
Transparency isn't required for prints on light-colored shirts, but it is necessary for prints on dark shirts. They have more information about it under their articles addressing design for dark shirts.

Sounds good.
Now how do we ensure that the fabric is the color we want it to be? Do they even do custom fabric colors, or do they have a select few choices?

so that should give you some ideas, i would HIGHLY recommend making everything with a transparent background.
so if someone sees a design they like, but want it in a different color they will be able to choose that option with out it being squared off by your background color you had originally had in the BG.
they say they print in all RGB color formats so i dont think the need to go with only CMYK will be an issue.
i have started work on a few things just for testing. but i was making them in vector format and using a soft color proof in draw, to preview my simulated results before the actual print.
so i dont think there should be any problems with any colors one might choose to use.

Can't wait to see some designs!
You guys will quite likely be REALLY happy with printfection versus cafepress....
At the moment, Tham, EDAC, and myself are the store 'go-to-guys'...Let us know if you have any questions!

Question, is there any specific resolution or anything?

You MUST use these templates for your designs.
www.printfection.com/help/product_templates
They are already set for the res and dpi settings you will need.
So Tham, people will be able to individually choose the color of the fabric? I'm curious because most of my designs will look best on the color I choose for them, or at least a close shade. Some will only really only work on that color.
As you can see, that has me a bit worried. Is there any way to make a design available in just a single color?
